Meet Ringo

When you create a Drum workspace, something shows up that other chat apps don't. An actual member of your team. A character with a name, Ringo.

He's our answer to a question we kept asking ourselves: what if the AI living in your chat wasn't just a bot you sometimes remember to talk to. What if he was actually part of the team.

What Ringo actually does

Ringo lives in your channels. You mention him like you mention anyone else. He reads what you write. He looks at what you link. And he tries to be useful.

When someone posts a PR, Ringo can read it. Actually read it. Explain what changed. Flag potential issues. Save you the click and the context switch.

When a code review is running long in a thread, Ringo can jump in. Clarify what's being debated. Sometimes suggest a way forward. Not deciding anything for you. Just helping move the conversation.

When you want to track something, Ringo can create a Linear issue or a Jira ticket right from the chat. Pull in the context that's already there. No copy-pasting links back and forth.

He knows your tech stack. Your repos. Your usual patterns. So when you ask something, he's not guessing. He's working with actual information about how your team works.

The why of a mascot

Most AI in chat feels like a tool someone added as an afterthought. You remember it exists maybe once a week. You use it when you're desperate.

We wanted something different. Something that feels like a teammate. Someone who's just there, part of the channel, available when you need him.

A mascot makes that real. Gives him a face. A personality. Makes it easier to think of him as part of the team instead of a feature.

It's a small thing. But it changes how people interact with him.

Where Ringo actually lives

One thing we made sure about: when your team talks to Ringo, those conversations stay in the EU. Your code, your conversations, your context. All of it lives in European infrastructure.

We built Ringo on models that run here. Not routed through US servers. Not subject to US data requests. Just here.

For teams that care about GDPR, about where their data sits, about not treating privacy like an afterthought. It's the default. Not a feature you have to turn on.

Not revolutionary, just helpful

We're not going to tell you Ringo replaces your entire dev workflow. He doesn't. He's not meant to.

What he does is save you some friction. A review that takes slightly less time. A ticket created without leaving chat. An update on what broke that you can actually parse instead of scrolling through logs.

Fifty of those moments in a day add up. That's the whole point. And you get to keep your data in one place the whole time.

What's next for Ringo

We've got ideas. Better understanding of your specific patterns over time. Tighter integrations with more tools. Making him smarter about understanding context in longer threads.

But we're building it based on what actually helps your team, not what sounds cool. That matters to us.

For now, Ringo's here. Part of your workspace. Ready when you need him.
